Shorebirds vs Greenjackets opening day game recap

SALISBURY, Md. – In the first inning, it was Augusta that got on the board first with Luis Guanipa hitting an RBI single into right field.

Delmarva came with a response in the third inning. After they tied the game at 1, Joshua Lirzano hit a 3-run homer into left field to give the Shorebirds a 4-1 lead.

The Greenjackets were relentless. They tied the game in the fourth inning, Stiven Martinez put Delmarva back on top with a solo home run into right field.

Then in the seventh inning, it was Guanipa back at the plate for Augusta. However, a missed throw to home resulted in a two RBI single.

A series of missed throws and fielding errors resulted in a four-run seventh inning for Augusta.

Resulting in a deficit too big for the Shorebirds to overcome. They fell in this one 10-7.
