Two in Critical Condition Following Dover House Fire; Marshals Investigating

DOVER, Del. – The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a residential fire that left one adult and one juvenile in critical condition on Tuesday.

Just after 5:30 p.m. on Apr. 7, a fire was reported at a two-story single-family residence in the 200 block of Greenwich Drive. The Dover Fire Department, along with multiple mutual aid fire companies. responded to the scene and found fire coming from the first floor of the occupied residence. Two residents in critical condition were transported from the scene by Delaware State Police Aviation to area hospitals. A third patient was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.

Fire damage to the house and its contents is estimated to be valued at $300,000. A preliminary origin and cause of the fire have not been determined at this time.

Other responding agencies included the Dover Police Department (DPD) and Kent County Department of Public Safety. In a message posted to social media, DPD applauded the coordinated efforts of the responders on scene. 

“Traffic was controlled, landing zones were secured, patients were cared for, and every agency supported one another to ensure the best possible outcome,” they wrote. “This is what our community should expect: coordination, professionalism, and a commitment to one another and to the people we serve.”
