Mardela Softball with the win over Indian River

MARDELA SPRINGS, Md. – Some state vs state action in High School Softball, as the Mardela Warriors played Indian River.

The Warriors coming into the matchup as undefeated. It was a pitching duel in the first opening innings.

Pitcher Kaily Phillips, here jamming up the Warriors hitter for the fly-ball out. The freshman played strong in the beginning, forcing the Warrior hitters in precarious positions.

Mardela, though, is one of the top teams in the Bayside, Ava Twilley striking out the IR hitter. The Mississippi State commit is so good. She was one of the players who broke the game open, with a 4th inning home-run blast down centerfield.

Later in the bottom of the 4th, Camryn Dorr with a rocket of her own. At this point, Mardela is starting to dominate this game.

The runs keep coming, Dorr finds the softball again for an RBI single, the Warriors get up several runs during the stretch, a wild pitch by freshman Kailey Phillips, an easy run.

Warriors win this game 10 to 0, and they will look to keep the momentum going again tomorrow in a home matchup against Cambridge South Dorchester.
