TidalHealth Partners with AARP for HealthFest
OCEAN CITY, Md. – In this week’s Health Beat, brought to you by TidalHealth, WMDT spoke with the Director of Community Health Initiatives for the organization, Kat Rodgers, MPH.
Rodgers spoke with us about the HealthFest coming to the Ocean City Convention Center on Apr. 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
“We’ve been doing HealthFest for many years, and so has TidalHealth Atlantic,” she tells us. “HealthFest is all about learning how healthy you are.”
Rodgers says a number of services will be available to attendees, including assessments for risk of diabetes, routine bloodwork, and spine examinations. Additionally, there will be interactive demonstrations geared for the aging community. But most importantly, Rodgers says its about connecting the community to health resources and a more active lifestyle.
“So it’s really about health education and, bringing health care out of the exam room and into the community,” she says. “It is supposed to be fun! That’s why it’s called a fest, you know, we want to celebrate health.”
Various healthcare professionals will be at the event to interact with attendees and answer any questions they may have. The Worcester County Health Department, Maryland Access Point, the Chronic Kidney Foundation, and AARP are just a few partnering with TidalHealth for the event.
