MILLSBORO, Del. – Multiple fire companies conducted a water rescue on Sunday afternoon, after a boat began to sink in a local pond.

At 4:16 p.m., crews from the Millsboro, Indian River, Dagsboro, and Georgetown fire companies responded to a pond behind a residence on Gravel Hill Road. It was reported that a small boat hit a log and was sinking, with one subject on top of the board and two other subjects in the water swimming towards a nearby island. The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company says a good Samaritan was rendering assistance pending arrival of emergency response units.

Emergency response crew assignments reportedly included responding to the designated staging and/or launch location.
