WMDT visits Camden Yards for Opening Day
CAMDEN YARDS, Md. – Steeped in tradition is one of America’s biggest pastimes, Major League Baseball’s Opening Day 2026.
WMDT Sports spent a day in Baltimore as the Orioles welcomed the Minnesota Twins in a big matchup to start off the season.
Whether it’s ballpark comfort food or something more traditionally Maryland, Camden Yards has plenty of food and variety for fans in attendance to enjoy.
“We’re actually next to my favorite stand, I come to every game, the donut stand, my favorite is the powdered sugar, I just had the 10-piece,” said Vee.
Another fan, Chris, lists off what he got his family on the special day. “Hot dogs, chicken tenders, I got fries, and my wife over there, she got nachos.”
Kerry made the trip all the way from Delmar for the big game, she says there is nothing like seafood in Maryland. “Anything with crab, I heard there were some new crab additions, hoping to find those around the park somewhere to enjoy.”
Fans were excited about the atmosphere, in Baltimore. Some fans spent the day at Pickles Pub and the nearby bars, and some went to the game itself.
One couple said this was there first opening day, and they came to see a certain player, the Orioles just signed. “We’re down here, Camden Yards, we’re waiting for Pete the Polar Bear Alonso to make his debut.”
The Paegentry, the symbolism, and the American customs, fans like Louanne were ready for the first pitch.
“We are ready baby, got family in from Florida, there here to celebrate our win today, we’re going all the way this season baby, all the way.”
Vee makes it out to several Opening Day, he says there is nothing like it. “Great weather, anticipation of a World Series run, I don’t think you can pick a better day than Opening Day.”
Cliff has been to five opening days and 12 different ballparks around the country, Cliff says Camden Yards ranks amongst the best. “I think they have incorporated the new with the old here, than the other parks. Some of the other parks are very new and techno, but this is a old ballfield.”
