Nearly $28 million secured to expand broadband infrastructure in the First State

DOVER, Del. – Nearly $28 million in federal funds have been secured to expand high-speed broadband infrastructure to thousands of homes and businesses in the First State.

Governor Matt Meyer and the Delaware Department of Technology and Information made that announcement Wednesday.

The milestone was made possible through the federal Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment Program.

The state’s plan focuses on areas with little or no broadband access, such as rural communities.

In total, the funding will support the deployment of 1,513 new connections in Kent County and 2,790 new connections in Sussex County.

Construction is expected to begin in Fall 2026.
