New Wicomico County Library Branch Holds Soft Open
(PARSONSBURG, Md) – It’s a packed house Friday in rural Wicomico County for the brand new branch of the library.
The Wicomico County Public Library closed their Pittsville branch in February and Friday was the opening of the brand new Lewis Riley Branch in Parsonsburg.
This is a soft opening for the new branch, and they were not expecting such a large turnout of families Friday morning in rural Wicomico County.
Library leadership says the people in this portion of the county deserve a permanent location for the library.
“I think it was essential to have a really dedicated space like this, and to build the space so it fit in with the environment as much as possible. It’s exciting to have it over on this side of the county. And to move from the trailer, which did a great job for its time, but now it’s time to have something more permanent, something that’s right here,” says Library Board of Trustees Chairman, Brian Bergen-Durand.
The Wicomico County Library will be holding a ribbon cutting for the new branch on May 20th.
