Delmarva Power prepares for the threat of severe weather

DELAWARE — With severe weather threatening the peninsula, Delmarva Power is preparing for potential impacts.

Marcus Beal, Regional President of Delmarva Power in Delaware, said the company is activating its emergency service teams in response. However, he urged the community to prepare by assembling storm kits with essentials like water, nonperishable food, and a first aid kit.

Beal emphasized the importance of preparing for potential delays in power restoration.

“With a storm like this, where we’re expecting high winds and heavy rain, a lot of things could negatively impact overhead infrastructure,” he said. “We began preparing over the weekend, holding coordination calls and getting materials and resources in place.”

Beal also encouraged customers to report outages and provide any relevant information that could assist crews in determining what equipment is needed.

The company is actively monitoring the situation and bracing for an influx of calls.

“Customers can report outages through our mobile app or website at delmarva.com/storm,” Beal said. “And please be cautious if you’re driving, as our crews will likely be working along the sides of the road.”
