OCEAN VIEW, Del. – After the Ocean View Post Office abruptly shut its doors in Oct. 2025, local leaders are demanding answers as to when the location will reopen.

“For months now, residents and businesses in the Ocean View area have been without access to their local post office while the facility remains closed for repairs,” said Delaware Senate Republican Leader Gerald Hocker in a statement on Thursday. “Unfortunately, despite repeated inquiries, the United States Postal Service has failed to provide a timeline for when repairs will begin or when the post office will reopen.”

The United State Postal Service (USPS) has reportedly advised lawmakers that the repair project remains active and that the organizations is currently evaluating potential interim solutions. Yet, Senator Hocker says solutions aren’t coming to Ocean View residents quickly enough.

“Frankly, the amount of time it has taken to reach even the early stages of a solution is disgraceful,” Senator Hocker continued. “Residents deserve far better communication and a much greater sense of urgency in resolving this matter.”

Senator Hocker says he and Delaware Representative Ronald Gray have remained in constant contact with USPS and are coordinating closely with federal partners in an effort to move the process forward.
