POCOMOKE CITY, Md. – The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fire that caused extensive damage to an abandoned house in Pocomoke City.

At 4:53 a.m. on Monday, Mar. 9, the Pocomoke City Volunteer Fire Company and other mutual aid companies responded to a structure fire on Oxford Street. Pocomoke Emergency Medical Services first arrived to find a two-story house with fire showing from the second floor and through the roof. Fire Chief Eric Denston lead the command as crews worked to suppress the bulk of the fire.

Crews were on-scene for nearly two and a half hours for extensive overhaul and extinguishing stubborn hotspots.
