Sonic boom prompts explosion reports in Seaford

SEAFORD, Del. — Reports of possible explosions in the Seaford area were attributed to sonic booms caused by multiple jets flying overhead, according to the Seaford Police Department.

In a statement posted to the department’s Facebook page, officials said several aircraft traveling at high speeds created sonic booms that were heard across the area. The loud noises led some residents to report potential explosions.

Police said the reports were investigated and have since been closed and cleared, with no threats or hazards identified.

Authorities did not release additional details about the aircraft but indicated there is no ongoing public safety concern.
