Residents against Short-Term Rental restrictions happy about moratorium end

OCEAN CITY, Md. – The Short-Term Rentals controversy in Ocean City that has finally come to a conclusion. The Ocean City Council decided to rescind the moratorium on short-term rental licenses after an extension was recommended back in October and approved on new rental licenses.

The change would impact the R1 and MH housing districts, in December and January.

The Ocean City Residents Against Short-Term Rental Restrictions group submitted.

over 1,200  signatures, in petition against the ruling and one of the members, Terry Miller says it’s a great thing all around.

“The last 16 months, this has been going on, really for 11 and 12 years that they have been trying to make changes.So we are very excited to get the moratorium rescinded.”

Many proponents of the restrictions say that in R1 and MH districts, the lack of community and safety during the summer is why they wanted the restrictions in place.
