19-Year-Old Arrested on Gun, Drug, and Assault Charges in Dover

DOVER, Del. – The Dover Police Department arrested a 19-year-old on drug, assault and gun charges in connection with an altercation that occurred Sunday morning.

Police have arrested Cameron Chatman of Dover on charges of second degree assault, receiving a stolen firearm, two counts of possession of a controlled tier one quantity, aggravated menacing, third degree criminal trespassing, and related charges. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institute on $121,000 cash bail.

At 10:46 a.m. on Feb. 22, officers observed Chatman pepper-spraying a victim on South Governors Avenue. He reportedly proceeded to point a firearm at the victim after spraying them. Officers responded, and took Chatman into custody without incident.

A subsequent search of Chatman found him in possession of 6.6 grams of crack cocaine and 37 bags of unspecified amounts of heroin. Police located a Glock 19 handgun on a property Chatman was observed going to after pointing it at the victim. He is prohibited from possessing firearms. 

It was also revealed that Chatman has a no-contact order with the property he was observed entering on South Governors Avenue due to a prior incident.
