Four Condos Evacuated After Fire Damages Building Near Rehoboth Beach
REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. — Four condominium units were evacuated Wednesday night after a fire damaged a multi-residential building in the Creekwood community near Rehoboth Beach, fire officials said.
The Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company responded around 8:10 p.m. to a report of a structure fire in the 700 block of Stony Brook Circle, off Coastal Highway. Crews arrived to find flames climbing the exterior wall of a two-story condominium building.
Firefighters from the Lewes Fire Department assisted at the scene. The fire was quickly brought under control, officials said, but extended into one of the units. Four condos were evacuated as crews worked to extinguish the blaze.
No injuries were reported.
Delmarva Power responded to disconnect electricity to a bank of meters that appeared to be at the center of the fire, according to officials.
The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company provided standby coverage for the Rehoboth Beach and Lewes fire districts during the incident.
