The UMES Hawks Volleyball team improves to 9-5 with home win

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The UMES Hawks welcomed the Roberts Wesleyan RedHawks to the Jesse T. Williams Sr. Court at the Hytche Athletic Center.

UMES dominating the match from start to finish. Early in the first set, Andre Mills with the serve, the RedHawks were able to return it but Marcellus Owens had other plans and bad intentions on the kill and he gets the Hawks on the board.

Freshman Josh Hightower tried his serve, but it landed out of bounds, which gave some life to Roberts Wesleyan. The RedHawks tried to get momentum after the UMES mishap, but the but the stiff defensive formation on the three-person block for UMES was just too much.

The defense was the separator in this matchup, on many occasions, the RedHawks could not get the attack started, and UMES took advantage.

Junior Andre Mills had himself a great game. He was on countless kills and used his dominance to lead the Hawks throughout the match. On one play, setter Kenyon Haynes puts Mills in a great position, and he delivered with a vicious strike.

UMES improved to 9-5 with an undefeated record at home, winning the match 3 to 0.

Andre Mills led the team with 10 kills.
