Art League of Ocean City Hosts Wine-Pairing Event and Fundraiser

OCEAN CITY, Md. — The Art League of Ocean City hosted a fundraiser dinner pairing art, food, and wine on Thursday.

Guests enjoyed a five-course meal from Touch of Italy, with each dish paired with wine by nationally recognized sommelier Laurie Forster. “Based on the tasting notes of the food and the wine, we’ve curated five masterpieces. From the best artists in this area, and matched them to the tasting notes, and [we’re] going to present them at the dinner with the food,” Executive Director of the Art League Rina Thaler said.

Pieces of artwork were revealed throughout the night, and each masterpiece was paired with a wine. Guests had the opportunity to purchase the curated wines at the end of the night, with the proceeds benefiting the Art League and its mission to nurture creativity on the Eastern Shore.

“We have a wonderful artist from Rehobeth, Delaware, Kim Klabe, who is going to be at the event creating a piece of artwork on the spot using wine and then paint. She pours the wine on the canvas and comes up with an abstract design and then she turns that into an acrylic painting.”
