Dorchester Health Dept. Hosts College Fair
(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – Students across Dorchester County are setting their sights on potential colleges.
It’s all thanks to the Dorchester County Health Department’s Youth Action Council organizing a college fair across the county’s two high schools.
Organizer, Robin Stanley says students wanted to become more familiar with colleges and universities across the state.
So they worked with Dorchester County Public Schools to bring more than 20 colleges to the two schools.
She tells WMDT, “It means a lot to the students, so they don’t have to actually, like I say, visit the different campuses themselves. They can get the information here in their high school, and they can tell the students about the programs that they offer. And the kids can get the information and take it home with them…”
Robin says that bringing the schools to the students helps those who can’t find the time or resources to travel for college visits.
She says, “It means a lot. It means that the kids are really, looking forward to their future and investing in that education. And this is not something that they were forced to do. This is something that they wanted to do.”
The Dorchester County Health Department says more than 100 students across the two high schools signed up for the college fair.
