Beebe Healthcare Suspends Physician Following Social Media Posts
LEWES, Del. – Beebe Healthcare has issued a statement following contentious social media posts made by a physician on his personal account.
“After conducting an initial investigation, leadership swiftly placed the physician on administrative leave,” officials said in a statement. “We are in the midst of conducting a full investigation into the matter, during which time the individual will not be seeing patients.”
Officials called the remarks “abhorrent behavior,” and said they empathize with anyone who was impacted by the physician’s remarks.
“We have zero tolerance for divisive or discriminatory rhetoric or behavior of any kind and are committed to ensuring Beebe is a welcoming, inclusive, and non-discriminatory workplace for all who walk through our doors,” they concluded.
The physician’s identity has not been released to the public at this time. The social media posts in question have been labeled as antisemitic by some, including the Jewish Federation of Delaware (JFD). The Federation released their own statement following Beebe’s.
“We commend Beebe Healthcare for acting quickly to address this situation and for prioritizing patient safety through immediate administrative action and investigation,” JFD said. “However, it is essential to be explicit about what occurred. The statements and posts in question are not merely offensive or inappropriate—they are antisemitic… The Jewish Federation of Delaware urges institutions to clearly identify antisemitism when it occurs and to confront it with the seriousness it demands.”
