In Salisbury a group of students are trying to convince their university to divest from the worlds top 100 oil and gas companies. The group of roughly 15 presented their petition to the university's Foundation House Friday.

The group started at the university's red square before marching their petition to the Foundation House.

The petition had over 500 signatures of students supporting the divestment from those companies.

The foundation had previously asked for a proposal from the student group.

After they turned the petition in the students then drew an image of the earth and other pictures in the parking lot of the foundation house with chalk.

"This was just kind of our way of making a statement while we turn in our proposal just so that it's not kind of brushed under the carpet – we want this issue to be an open debate, people can talk about it," said Kobi Azoulay, the event organizer.

Azoulay said the proposal calls for the university to divest from those companies by the year 2025.
