Parkside Cruises Past Wi-Hi In States Opener

The Parkside boys soccer team rolled into the second round of the Maryland 2A State Tournament Friday afternoon with a 14-0 win over Wi-Hi. The Rams advance to face No. 2 Easton.

The Rams would go straight to work. Just three minutes into a game and a ball would find Grant Burleson who would tap it on home. Just 30 seconds later and the Rams would add another after Noah O’Barsky would chip a pass into the box that would get volleyed home by Ben Urban. Horacio Bonola would add a break away score to push the lead to 3-0 before the 10 minute mark. The Rams continued firing shots on goal from there and the game could’ve gotten out of hand in a hurry if not for a couple nice saves from the Indians keeper Luke Edson. But Parkside kept coming. A corner would be sent into the box, headed by O’Barsky to Bonola who would finish it off to push the lead to 5-0. The Rams would take a 6-0 lead into halftime, and never look back from there as they picked up the win.
