Vacant House Burns Down in Oxford; Fire Marshal Investigating
OXFORD, Md. – The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating a structure fire that destroyed a vacant house on Tuesday night.
At 11:04 p.m. on Feb. 3, firefighters responded to a two-story house on Almshouse Road after a neighbor reported a fire to 911. Crews from the Trappe, Oxford, St. Micahels, Cordova, Easton, Queen Ann-Hillsboro, Cambridge, Linkwood, and Preston volunteer fire companies worked to put out the fire for an hour and 45 minutes in snowy conditions. A total of 62 firefighters responded to this incident.
The total damage to the structure is estimated to be valued at $100,000. An origin and preliminary cause of the fire have not been determined at this time.
