Kent Island sweeps Easton to win state’s opener

The Kent Island volleyball team advanced to the second round of the state tournament Thursday with their straight sets sweep of Easton. The Buccaneers will now face North Caroline.
Kent Island jumped ahead early with points from Hannah Moran, Macey Strunk and company. They soon went on to win the first set. In the second set, Easton jumped ahead with big points from Quinn Jennings, but then Victoria Zens put an end to that making it seem as if her serves couldn’t be returned. After Zens big run, Kent Island didn’t let off the gas as they won the second set as well. In the third set, Easton’s whole season was on the line and they were playing their best, but fell short of extending the match as it seemed like Kent Island had a player in every spot on the floor. The final point was scored by Marcy Strunk.
