Ice impales car windshield, passenger suffers cuts

GEORGETOWN, Del. – Georgetown EMS reminding folks to clear snow and ice off your car after a storm.

Thursday, they were dispatched to a traumatic injury on Route 9, just west of Ashbury Road.

Once on scene, the crews found a pickup with a shattered windshield.

Two occupants of the vehicle told first responders that a large chunk of ice fell off a truck that was nearing their vehicle.

The ice penetrated the windshield and dislodged portions of the dashboard.

The driver was not hurt, but the passenger in the vehicle suffered numerous cuts to their face and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
