SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury Zoo invites community members to attend a public forum at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the Parkside High School Auditorium.

The meeting is open to the public and welcomes families, stakeholders, neighbors and Zoo supporters. This forum provides an opportunity to learn more about the Zoo’s recent updates, future direction, the AZA reaccreditation process and ongoing work to protect wildlife through education and conservation.

This informational and planning-focused meeting will provide an overview of current initiatives, long-term goals, and potential improvements aimed at enhancing animal care, guest experiences and community engagement. Those who come out will have the opportunity to offer input that will be used to help inform planning efforts and guide future decision-making.

Speaking of the Zoo, with stormy weather planned, the Salisbury Zoo may see unexpected closures. Be sure to check the Zoo’s website and Facebook pages for any changes in operating hours. Many of the animals are excited for the snowy weather, and precautions are being taken for everyone there. Weather restrictions aside, the Salisbury Zoo is open every day from 9:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m.

Lastly, a friendly reminder that the Salisbury Prize Art contest has a deadline that’s quickly approaching. Submissions are due by Friday, Jan. 30. The opportunity is open to Maryland organizations and residents aged 18 and older. Artists, architects, engineers and creative teams can apply for a $10,000 award, plus up to $5,000 in material reimbursements. The 2026 artwork will be installed at the kiosk area in front of the Salisbury-Wicomico Government Office Building in June.
