Emergency Closure of Indian River Bay to Harvesting Clams, Mussels
MILLSBORO, Del. – The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) has issued an emergency closure of the Indian River Bay to the harvest of clams and mussels.
Officials say the closure is the result of an ongoing sewage release linked to Millsboro’s sewer system. The Bay will remain closed for at least 21 days after the discharge ends to protect public health. In the meantime, crab, conch and finfish harvests remain open.
DNREC says Rehoboth Bay is not affected at this time.
