Charlie Paparella Explores Downtown Salisbury
SALISBURY, Md. – In this week’s edition of Back on the Road with Charlie Paparella, brought to you by Furniture & More Gone Coastal, Charlie explored Downtown Salisbury and what it has to offer.
“As that old baseball player said, it’s deja vu all over again because it’s the same place, but it’s really not,” Charlie said. “There’s a lot of new things here. Downtown is much improved from what it was then.”
Charlie took some time to explore the new businesses that inhabit the Downtown area. He spoke with Jessica Mason, owner of Breathe Interiors, a local nature-inspired home decor shop that features crafts and goods from local artists.
“Jessica is absolutely amazing. I love shopping here. I love coming just to hang out and chat with her,” said Amy Zaprowski, a Breathe Interiors regular. “She does all sorts of crafty workshops, and she’s just a bright light down here.”
He also visited Exotic Hair and spoke with the owner, Jamia Spencer, about how her hair salon found its way to Downtown.
“I actually went to school, I majored in a bachelors and business [administration] with the concentration in project management,” she told Charlie, who asked if this was always her plan. “I thought I could find a way to make women happy without breaking the bank. And that’s why we’re here.”
Charlie took a snack break after dropping by Two Scoops, a popular ice cream spot located on the corner of Main Street. Charlie was sure to congratulate owner Nicole Rogers, who purchased the business back in Oct. 2021.
“At first it was just a gift shop,” she told Charlie. “We moved up here and added the ice cream. And then when I bought it, I brought in coffee [and] I make, special waffles [called] Liège style Belgian waffles.”
Those waffles were certified “delicious” by Charlie himself.
“Downtown is very much happening. There’s a lot of good people doing, really interesting things,” Charlie concluded. “It’s worth a visit!”
