Cape claws back from 16 down to beat Howard in double overtime
LEWES, Del. – Cape boy’s basketball outlasted Howard Vo-Tech 80-76 in double overtime Tuesday night in Lewes.
The Howard Wildcats were ahead for a majority of regulation, leading 30-25 at halftime and by as much as 16 late in the third quarter.
But in the fourth, Cape outscored the road team by 13 points, sending the game to overtime tied at 60.
In the extra period, Howard’s Nicholas Baysah scored with about 20 seconds remaining to put the Wildcats up 70-67. On Cape’s ensuing possession, Jameson Tingle hit a step-back three that brought the game to double overtime.
The Vikings closed the game on a 6-1 run in the final two minutes of double overtime, sealing a thrilling victory that moved them to 6-1 on the season.
Cape was led offensively by the trio of Jameson Tingle (29 points) , Stephen Sivels (18 points, 8 assists) , and Lamar McCoy (14 points). Tingle also recorded 12 rebounds, six assists, six steals, and four blocks.
