The Brightside: SU students show gratitude

SALISBURY, Md. – Sometimes we forget to show gratitude for the little things.

But Brenda Hicks wanted to encourage students at Salisbury University to be loud and proud about the things they’re most grateful for. So, she set up a mic on campus.

“It just showcased what our community is grateful for, which are the little things, such as their friends, what they had for lunch, or the facilities, where they can study, at SU,” Brenda said.

“[I’m] thankful for the dining hall, because I need the fuel for my body, and [I’m] thankful that I’m healthy and can exercise,” said one student.

Others showed love for the people around them.

“I’m thankful for my friend Sammy; and I’m thankful for my friend Nora,” two students said.

“I’m grateful for all my friends that I have, that I made here,” added another student.

The everyday hustle and bustle can distract us from all of life’s blessings, but Brenda hopes that students taking a moment out of their day to recognize theirs, will encourage you to do the same.

“This is what Salisbury is about. It’s about community, it’s about the little things, it’s about appreciating whatever we go through along the day,” Brenda said.
