Northside Park in Ocean City to receive new upgrades

OCEAN CITY, Md. – Upgrades for Northside Park, a premier destination in the popular resort town for residents and community members.

The upgrades will consist of replacing the softball field lights with energy saving LEDs, and enhancements to the pathways. The expectation is this will be for better walkability and improved drainage.

The plan is also an inclusive playground for kids with newer equipment. An Ohio family is visiting the resort town and tells us they come to enjoy the park often.

“My parents have had a place down there since 1980, and since we’re both teachers, we here at least 6-8 weeks every summer.”

This is through a $1 million plan that will improve the amenities and accessibility for community members and visitors. Existing equipment is aging, and needs to be replaced after heavy use.

The funding used will come from the capital reserve fund. The Clark Family indicate they would love to see improvements to the park.

“Sundays in the park is probably our kids favorite part every week. It brings in money, it brings in offseason tourism. It’s such a great place, we come everyday during the summertime, and use all the facilities, so if they make them nicer, we are all for it.”

These projects are slated to happen in the 2026 through 2027 timeframe. Officials hope the modernization will keep the space as a top-notch destination.
