UPDATE: Reward offered for arrest in Eastgate Village sexual assault

UPDATE: The managing company of the Eastgate Village property is now offering a reward of $4,000 for information that leads to an arrest of the suspect in this case, Salisbury Police said.

Detectives are still attempting to identify the suspect who broke into a residence at the retirement community and sexually assaulted an elderly victim on April 30th.

The suspect is described as a middle-aged male of unknown race, police said.

Original Post: Salisbury Police are investigating a reported burglary and sexual assault of an elderly victim that happened early Sunday morning at the Eastgate Village retirement community.

At around 2 o'clock Sunday morning, officers with the Salisbury Police Department responded to a burglary and assault call at the 1700 block of Eastgate Drive, officials said. Investigators say a suspect entered a residence through an open window and sexually assaulted a sleeping elderly victim.

According to police, the victim woke up and fought off the suspect, who fled the scene. The victim was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for minor injuries and released, officials said.

Salisbury Police and a Worcester County Sheriff's Office K9 unit searched the area. Authorities are still looking for the suspect, described as a middle-aged male of unknown race, police said.
