Uber Ride Leads to Altercation in Felton
FELTON, Del. – A Frederica woman has been arrested for offensive touching and resisting arrest after an altercation that took place Friday morning.
At 8:17 a.m. on Dec. 19, officers with the Felton Police Department were dispatched to the Royal Farms located on the 11000 block of South DuPont Highway for a reported assault. Upon arrival, police made contact with with a female victim and suspect, later identified as her Uber driver.
Police determined that the victim hired an Uber ride share service and requested the driver stop at the Felton Royal Farms. The driver became upset about having to stop and an argument ensued. The victim was video recording the incident when the suspect allegedly swung her right hand backward, striking the victims hand, and causing her cellphone to strike her in the face.
When police contacted the driver, identified as 40-year-old Gislaine Mezie, in the Royal Farms parking lot, she refused to comply with any commands and resisted arrest. She was subsequently charged, arraigned and released on her own recognizance pending a later court date. Mezie was issued a no contact order with the victim.
