Weather Tidbits: Winter Driving Safety

We’ll be discussing winter driving safety in this edition of Weather Tidbits. When it comes to driving in the cold and snow, there are a few factors to think about when regarding safety. First, check your tires. Make sure that you have adequate tread on the tires for better traction. Also, check your tire pressure as cold weather can tend to lower it at times, especially with large temperature fluctuates. Remove any snow and ice from your car windows, mirrors, and lights for improved visibility when driving. Finally, to prevent skidding on slippery roads, avoid accelerating and braking too hard. If you do start to skid, slowly lift off the accelerator and turn into the direction of the skid to regain control of the car.
