Sports 6pm

pretty much wiped out all afternoon events. yeah david all of the outdoor stuff, clearly wiped out. we’ve got a couple of volleyball games to hit later tonight but with friday night lights in full effect tomorrow, we’re hoping the rain slows. because there are a couple of great matchups on the gridiron tomorrow we have already hit the halfway mark of the regular season. he’re is this week’s top 5 in as we begin in maryland. beginning with the easton warriors who sit at 3-1 on the year, they have a crucial matchup on saturday in worton with kent county. at number four, it’s the cambridge vikings. they are coming off a 22-point win over kent and will travel to virginia to take on nandua tomorrow. at three, david bailey and the north caroline bulldogs. they are back at home tomorrow, that 32 point per game average should go up a bit, as they face off with winless decatur. at two, the former number one, queen anne’s. the lions spent just one week at that top spot after falling last friday at sussex central. and my new number one, after starting the season unranked, the kent island buccaneers, and in delaware, some new names as well, the first being laurel. the dawgs enter the rankings after their upset win over sussex tech. cape stays put at number four, they get polytech this weekend in a game that was originally supposed to be at poly, but will be moved to cape. sussex central goes from 5 last week, to 3 this week after they beat queen anne’s. big one in the route 9 rivalry, as they travel to bitter rival sussex tech. at two, woodbridge is posted after their 28 point home win over wilmington friends. after last week, no doubt they are the number one small school in the state. and as far as big schools, ha..not even close..smyrna runs away with it. they host dover, looking to make it 14 straight wins dating back to last season. and a quick note from the university of delaware as blue hen’s standout running back jalen randolph was named a semifinalist for 2016 william v. campbell trophy. the award, recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation..its been won by some familiar names, peyton manning as well as tim tebow to name a few. randolph is a graduate student these days, he earned a degree in health behavioral science last may with a 3.6 gpa, and is currently enrolled in ud’s mba program. that’s it for sports – more news and weather straight ahead. stay with us. catch more of the action on our sports page at 47abc.com here’s a look
