Man Arrested and Extradited Following Night of Menacing Milton

Shannon Hilton

MILTON, Del. – The Milton Police Department (MPD) arrested a man on Friday night following a domestic disturbance and subsequent series of events.

On Nov. 28 at 11:19 p.m., police responded to the area of Bay Avenue, when dispatchers informed officers that the suspect fled the scene in a black Ford F350 pickup truck. One officer patrolled the surrounding area and located the suspect’s vehicle on State Route 16. The officer initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as 44-year-old Shannon Hilton.

Hilton was subsequently arrested and secured in the backseat of the police vehicle. While in custody, he attempted to break out of the vehicle by kicking the window and door, causing damage to the patrol car. Hilton was taken to MPD for further processing, where a computer check revealed an active warrant from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office.

A police investigation into the domestic dispute revealed that Hilton had violated a previous court-ordered no-contact order with a woman. The woman’s mother attempted to leave the scene in her vehicle, when Hilton used his truck to ram into the back of her vehicle, causing damage to both cars. Hilton then fled the scene before being stopped by the officer.

Hilton was charged with aggravated menacing, a breach of release, criminal mischief over and under a thousand dollars, and other related charges. He was arraigned and booked on a $4,000 cash bond. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution pending extradition to Maryland.
