Fire Ravages Home in Stevensville; Three Pets Killed
STEVENSVILLE, Md. – The Maryland State Fire Marshal has investigated a massive fire that destroyed a two-story home on Thursday afternoon.
At 1:47 p.m. on Nov. 13, 40 firefighters from the Kent Island Fire Department responded to a residence on Creeks End Lane following a report of a fire. It was reportedly discovered and called in by a neighbor.
Crews battled the fire for three hours and 13 minutes. Two dogs and a rabbit were killed in the blaze. The total damage to the property and contents is estimated to be around $750,000.
The fire is believed to have originated in a chimney, as the result of a malfunction of a wood stove.
The family of five that has been displaced is being assisted by the American Red Cross and family members.
