WORCESTER COUNTY, Md. — Fire crews rushed to a major blaze at an industrial building known as Bayside Jet Drive on Worcester Highway in Berlin. The building, which is used for working on boats and jet skis, was heavily damaged.

Willard’s Fire Department officials said the fire was internal, but they could not confirm if anyone was injured. At least 17 fire stations, with 47 fire trucks, water trucks, and cranes, were on the scene, stretching for about half a mile.

Fire crews have been battling the blaze for more than five hours, with the first units dispatched at 1:22 p.m. They have used approximately 150,000 gallons of water and expect to use at least 100,000 more.

At the scene, a crane was seen pulling down what remained of the building’s walls to reach the core of the fire. Smoke filled the sky as first responders stood by.

Officials said they expected the fire to be contained by 8 p.m. The cause of the fire and any possible injuries are still under investigation. An update will be provided tomorrow.
