OCEAN CITY, Md. – The Ocean City Police Department (OCPD) is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect that has been attempting to deposit stolen checks.

Police say they have been investigating several cases involving fraudulent checks over the past week. They have determined that one or more suspects have been stealing checks from residential mailboxes in the West Ocean City area. The suspects then “wash” the checks by attempting to cash them at multiple banks across Worcester County.

A female suspect, shown in the photos above, was last seen on Nov. 7 around 10:15 a.m. Police say she had been using a fraudulent Georgia driver’s license with the name Kimberly Williams at one point. She was seen driving a silver SUV with an unknown Maryland license plate number.

OCPD reminds residents to monitor their mail delivery, and  deposit outgoing mail inside secure post office mailboxes or hand it directly to a postal carrier. Residents are also advised to consider using electronic bill pay when possible.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation or possible check theft, is asked to contact PFC C. Goggins at cgoggins@oceancitymd.gov or 410-723-6610. Anonymous tips may be left by calling 410-520-5136 or submitted here. Calls should reference case number 2025-00-4466.
