Overnight Lane Closures Scheduled for Racetrack Road/MD 589 Intersection

BERLIN, Md. – The Maryland State Highway Administration is set to replace a deteriorated stormwater pipe at the MD 589/Racetrack Road and Grays Corner Road intersection beginning Sunday, Nov. 16.

Roadwork is expected to be competed by Thursday, Nov. 20, weather permitting.

Drivers can expect nighttime, single-lane closures throughout the roadwork, from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Additionally, one of the two eastbound turn lanes from U.S. 50 onto Racetrack Road will be closed during the pipe replacement project.

Variable message signs, arrow boards, cones, and flaggers will be implemented to safely guide motorists through the work zone. Additionally, Maryland State Police will be at the work site for traffic support. 

Drivers are asked to stay alert, stay focused and be aware of reduced speed limits and changing driving patterns in the work zone.
