Market Street Paving Scheduled to Begin Monday

Market Street Repaving

SALISBURY, Md. – Paving of Market Street, from South Division Street to Main Street, is slated to begin Monday, Nov. 10. Paving is expected to be complete at the end of the week, weather permitting.

During construction, no road closures are anticipated. Flaggers will be onsite throughout the duration of the work to assist with traffic flow and ensure public safety. The contractor will be responsible for all pavement markings, including crosswalks, parking spaces and bicycle arrow symbols.

While City offices will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day, crews are expected to continue working that day to maintain the project timeline.

This repaving follows recent upgrades to sidewalks and curbs along Market Street, which were reconstructed last month with new concrete and ADA-compliant detectable warning surfaces. The City says the Downtown area was selected as the first area to receive these improvements, with additional phases planned in the coming months.

This iteration of paving will include paving over the Pride crosswalks next to the Wicomico Public County Library.

The work is scheduled as part of the City’s larger Urban Greenway Master Plan. For more information on the project, click here.
