Corn Field Fire in Millsboro; Indian River Vol. Fire Co. Responds
MILLSBORO, Del. – Crews from the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company responded to a field fire on Thursday morning.
The field fire, which began around 11:33 a.m., resulted in mutual aid assistance from the Millsboro Volunteer Fire Company with two brush truck companies responding to the area. The fire is believed to have been caused by improper burning or discarded cigarette.
All emergency response crews were assigned to fire suppression details to prevent the advance of the fire throughout the field location. Brush truck ground-sweeps were used to fully saturate and suppress the cut corn husks after the fire containment was completed.
The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control and scene access for the duration of the incident.
