Lewes Firefighters Free Trapped Driver following Crash

LEWES, Del. – The Lewes Fire Department responded to a single-vehicle accident with entrapment on Tuesday afternoon.

Crews responded to the area of Lochwood, near Lakewood Drive, following the report of a basic motor vehicle accident, later upgraded to a an accident involving entrapment. Upon arrival, crews discovered a single vehicle off the roadway with one subject trapped.

Lewes firefighters rapidly stabilized the vehicle, gained access to the individual and removed the driver-side door to facilitate safe transfer to the ambulance. The patient was en route to the hospital for further treatment within 12 minutes of crews arriving on scene.
