Sea of kites fly high in Ocean City for 2017 Kite Expo

If you were in Ocean City Sunday you may have seen a ton of kites flying on the beach for the 2017 Maryland International Kite Exposition.
It's a weekend dedicated to kite flying from amateur to pros. The festival held exhibitions and demonstrations plus stunt and power kite lessons.
But it wasn't all fun and games since some were competing in Mid-Atlantic Stunt Kite Championships.
One kite duo, Doug Coates and Jackie Maciel came all the way down from Rhode Island and Massachusetts to perform their choreographed routine with music.
Jackie tells 47 ABC she started flying kites after seeing a festival just like this one years ago and fell in love with it.
"If people see this and want to try it, flying the two line kites to music they should come out and try it next year because it's great. The score really doesn't matter it's the fact that you get to fly to your music with nobody else around and you could show off, that's what I do. I don't really care about the score."
The duo tells 47 ABC 18 people are hoping to qualify to make it to nationals in the fall.
