Roadwork Begins for Coastal Square at US 50/Racetrack Rd Intersection
OCEAN CITY, Md. – The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) State Highway Administration is alerting motorists that construction on the new Coastal Square development on the south side of US Route 50 is starting Saturday, Nov. 1.
The work includes improvements being made to the intersection of of US 50 (Ocean Gateway) and Racetrack Road (MD 589). The improvements will include the addition of a fourth leg at the intersection to create a four-way intersection and the removal of the traffic signal on Brader Lane. Additionally, east and westbound lanes of US 50 will be widened, resurfaced, and include installation of pavement markings, and stormwater upgrades to accommodate the commercial development.
Motorists can expect 24-hour, single-lane closures and flagging operations throughout the duration of the project. Work is expected to be complete by spring 2026, weather permitting.
