Unoccupied Pickup Truck Pulled from Water in Wicomico Co.
MARDELA SPRINGS, Md. – Various fire companies responded to the Mardela Springs Boat Ramp on Saturday, following reports of a pickup truck in the water.
At approximately 7:34 p.m. on Oct. 25, Mardela Springs and Sharptown Volunteer Fire companies, as well as the Salisbury Special Operations Dive Team, were dispatched for a water rescue at Mardela Park.
Upon arrival on the scene, crews confirmed that a vehicle was fully submerged in Barren Creek. Rescue teams were initially unsure whether the vehicle was occupied, and multiple marine units were deployed to assist with the search.
Divers confirmed that the vehicle was unoccupied. Simpson’s Towing was requested to the scene and utilized a rotator wrecker to remove the vehicle from the water. All units operated safely and returned to service without incident.
The incident has been turned over to the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office for investigation.
