Just Try It!

SALISBURY, Md. Wicomico County recreation and parks is hosting their just try it event next week.

The event gives kids the opportunity to try out a sport for a night before deciding if they want to participate the entire season. Even though the event isn’t until next Tuesday organizers are asking people to pre-register. The group hosts four different events throughout the year, one for each sports season. This winter, they will have four different sports for kids to pick from.

Recreation program specialist, Randy McFadden said, “This time we have karate, which would be led by Dorian, who does his Dorian Karate Academy here at the Civic Center. We will have Homer King will be running the wrestling portion with Wolverine’s wrestling, and then as a county will be running both the volleyball and the basketball sections.”

There will also be giveaways, ice cream, and hot dogs.

“Everybody who comes will also get ice cream, which is great. The hot dogs, though, as well this time. So we’ll kind of give them a little snack and feed them while they’re here. And we’ll also have good brothers. Good Sisters will be here. And also Wendy’s comes out to support us.” said McFadden.

Organizers are hoping to see about 100 kids participate.
