New playground in Showell Park breaks ground

BERLIN, Md. – Officials in Worcester County broke ground on a new playground at Showell Park.

Community members and residents were invited, and joined the Worcester County Commissioners for the ceremony.

All Recreation contracted the space. The group installed and designed surfacing. They also constructed the nautical-themed play structures.

The space is over 6,600 square feet of space, and comprised of two sections.

County Deputy Director of Recreation and Parks, Jacob Stephens, tells WMDT, the space is inclusive for all.

“We met with a few different contractors, designed a playground that is mostly inclusive and ADA accessible for kids to be able to use.”

The park also includes a concession stands, pavilion, basketball courts, and pickleball courts.
