Princess Anne teacher: “I want them to have that love of learning, and we need good teachers.”

We’re nearing the end of the school year for most students and educators across the country with one Somerset County teacher got a special surprise Friday morning honoring her dedication.

Nicole Andrews has been awarded as “Teacher Who Makes A Difference” for the month of May.

Andrews teaches 21 kindergarten students at Greenwood Elementary School in Princess Anne. She has been teaching for there for nine years but has 18 years of experience overall.

Overcome with emotion on Friday, she tells us she believes the key to making a difference in a student’s life is showing you believe in their potential at a young age.

“I’ve been teaching for 18 years so some of my first students are in college now, so when I see them…especially when I hear some of them want to be teachers, that’s amazing to me because I want them to have that love of learning and we need good teachers,” says Andrews.
