Man Arrested for Arson after Dover House Fire
DOVER, Del. – The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office has determined that Tuesday’s early morning fire in Dover was arson.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 14, a fire was reported in the 1700 block of South Taylor Drive. The Camden Wyoming Fire Company, along with mutual aid fire companies, were dispatched to the location. They arrived to find fire emerging from the residence. The suspect, identified as Jovan McFarquhar of Dover, was taken into custody by the Delaware State Police at the scene.
Investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s Office investigated the origin and cause of the fire. They have determined that the fire was intentionally ignited inside the residence and that McFarquhar was responsible.
The home received an estimated $100,000 in damage and there were no reported injuries.
McFarquhar was arrested for second degree arson. After his arraignment, he was released on $4,000 unsecured bail
