UMES hosts 4-H STEM Expo

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is hosting its annual 4-H STEM Expo on Saturday, Oct. 18.

The expo is part of the Maryland STEM Festival, which is held each fall to inspire youth to pursue science-related careers and help grow the state’s STEM businesses.

Young scientists and their guardians can enjoy interactive activities and get an inside look at UMES’ new 4-H STEM mobile lab.

Event Coordinator and 4-H STEM Educator Brad Hartle told WMDT that the expo will offer opportunities for everyone. “Whether it’s STEM education, volunteer opportunities, careers or degrees they might want to pursue … just understanding that there are so many different things and so many different things just on the Shore,” Hartle said.

The expo will be held at the Engineering and Aviation Science Complex on campus. Representatives from NASA’s Wallops Island facility, Pocomoke State Park, local school districts and more will be there. It will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
